Esto NO es un Diario, bueno si

Desde Febrero de este año he venido usando Foursquare (en adelante referido como 4sq) en mi iPhone.

¿Para qué sirve esta aplicación? ¿En qué consiste? Supongamos que cada vez que vas a Starbucks quieres dejar un registro de que estuviste ahí, tomas tu teléfono, abres 4sq y haces un check in. Listo, ahora puedes compartir con tu lista de amigos de 4sq, twitter o facebook en donde estás, todo gracias al GPS que junto con el check in marca tu localización.

Ahora bien, hay un concepto dentro de 4sq muy importante, los Mayors. Un Mayor es aquella persona que ha hecho más check ins en un determinado venue.

También hay badges que uno se va ganando dependiendo del nivel de actividad que tenga y se ganan puntos dependiendo de si uno va por primera vez a un lugar, descubre un lugar nuevo o visita varios lugares en un mismo día.

La pregunta que creo todos se están haciendo ahora es ¿Y eso de que carajos sirve? Aquí en México, de nada en absoluto. En Estados Unidos a los Mayors les dan promociones especiales en las tiendas, por ejemplo. Para lo que podría servir es para ver que restaurantes, comercios o edificios hay alrededor de donde estás y las recomendaciones hechas por los mismos usuarios, eso es todo.

Por eso digo que 4sq se parece a Whose line is it anyway? Donde el host Drew Carey siempre abría con la frase: “Welcome to ‘Whose line’ the show where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter”.

De cualquier modo, es divertido ganar mayorships y joder a los amigos, si no pregúntenle a Frech y a Macías que nunca serán mayors del Bally muajajajaja.

El problema con sitios como match.com.mx es que, al menos en México, nadie paga por el servicio. Por ende, el sitio solo sirve para crear y ver perfiles. Esto sin tener comunicación alguna con cualquiera de tus posibles medias naranjas.

Ellas están ahí y les gustan los perros y las caminatas por la playa a la luz de la luna, pero no puedes contactarlas. Para mí esto sería equivalente a tener la boca amordazada y las manos amarradas en un buffet all you can eat.

He de confesar que yo he usado este sitio. De hecho había una promoción al suscribirse: “Si en 6 meses no encontramos un match para ti, te regalamos 6 meses gratis”. 6 meses después pensé, genial, 6 meses más para darme cuenta que nadie quiere ver mi perfil.

En el doceavo mes de mi suscripción encontré un match. Para no meterme en problemas la llamaré Ingrid, porque suena más exótico que su nombre real. Ingrid, al parecer, estaba igual de desesperada y dispuesta a pagar la suscripción como yo, ¿coincidencia? No lo creo.

Intercambiamos correos. Platicamos de nuestros likes & dislikes por messenger. Todo iba bien, hasta que llegó el momento de la verdad: ¿Crees que debamos conocernos?

Nos quedamos de ver en un restaurante.

Se veía bien en sus fotos (si, todo mundo usa facebook para stalkear gente, get over it) ¿Qué puede salir mal?

Llegué, ella estaba sentada viendo de frente hacia la puerta, supongo yo que para no darme chance de huir al verla. Estaba en la segunda mesa después de la entrada, así que un sprint de 5 metros no representaría mucho reto.

Entré, la saludé: “Hola, soy Walther” a lo que ella contestó: “Hola, soy Ingrid”. Tenía voz de cantante de ópera, de barítono. Deal breaker.

OK, since my desktop has been fucked up out of service for quite a while now and I don’t have an iPhone (yet) to access Facebook and a very special (yet really persuasive) person tagged me in her “25 random things about me” note and asked me to do my own; I decided to make it a post.

24. Christmas is my favorite holiday (for obvious reasons) along with cold weather.
